Week 13- Travels and sickness have recently entered into our ongoing creation
The mid section of the sculpturerests on sawhorses where the work is done to grind slag off the hand cut metal edges. Slag is teh fused refuse left from cutting the metal with intense heat.
Linley Schetky and Ann Cavanaugh, two artists who have been recognized separately for their talents in metal and glass, respectively, have collaborated on the creation of a sculpture that combines their unique skills and visions into a single work of art. Linley and Ann, who are both represented by DragonFire Gallery in Canon Beach were presented with the opportunity to collaborate on a memorial sculpture piece by gallery owner Eeva Lantela. The sculpture would honor Eeva's long time partner, Mari Rockett, and would be named “Mari's Fire - metal and glass.”
In addition, Linley and Ann have other collaborative projects are in the works, including a garden bench, which is a gift from the staff of Longview School district to honor Ann's retirement from education, and a bench for Eeva's memorial garden.
